Where is the best place to locate thermocouple probe? Pre or Post turbo? What are the pros and cons of each?

thanks guys.

Pre or Post

This is being discussed right now in another thread as we speak.

Here it is:

the 50/50 question

The above post is about installing it pre or post.

I think the quick response of the pre turbo installtion is best for pulling a heavy load. The Post is IMO for checking the turbo cool down temp.

Hope this helps!:D

Cooldown - schmooldown.

Heck, if your stock turbo eats itself..... just upgrade to a super-duper Piers model. :D

I vote for pre-turbo... . I'm more interested in my engine than I am in how hot my turbo is... . turbo is less $$ to rebuild than the engine, that's for sure.

I agree with probably 95% of the members. Pre-turbo tells you more precisely what is going on with your engine, especially if you are going to BOMB.

As for turbo cool down, I wait to see less than 300* and give it a minimum of at least a minute at idle to allow the turbo time to spool down before shutting down it's oil supply. Just my $. 02.

Well I guess it is pre turbo for me. I guess I could use a B1 turbo soon!

Adam

Got it and need to go through the valves this coming weekend.

Just give me a call.
