Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Thermostat Gasket

Anybody know where I can get the u-channel gasket for the thermostat? I changed back to the original thermostat last winter and it started leaking this week. I had to pay $30 + for a new thermostat when I only needed the gasket. :{

I haven't had my truck apart, but we used to use RTV to make a gasket for thermostats. Any reason this wouldn't work on our trucks? Any imperfections in the sealing surfaces can be "cured" this way...

Any large truck repair facility that deals w/ Cummins should be able to get you one.



It's called a D ring seal, PN is 3942454

True, but the Cummins uses reuseable rubber seals, no gasket. One inner and one outer.

It's all one gasket on the '01. "Reusable" is what I thought. I reused the two I had and both leaked. Once the thing is crushed and heated, it kind of stays crushed.
