I'm trying to figure out if I have more than a thermostat problem. My truck would only get warm enough to defrost the windshied and make it bearable to drive without my hand's going numb. It was'nt cold air blowing out but it was'nt really that warm. I installed a new thermostat today and now it get's warm, but should'nt the air coming out be hot, to the point where you should have to turn it down before your face melt's? I bought the T-stat from a Dodge dealer, but it look's totally different than what came out. The part number on the reciept is 5015708AC. Does anyone know if this is right. The lower part has rubber going around the bottom part that sit's down in the opening. It's about 1 inch deep. This isn't the gasket, it's blow it and you can't see the spring on the inside. It seem's to be working fine, because my operating temp. is at 190 or slightly below. I think 188 is normal. The air is much warmer, I just figured there would be more "HOT" air. I did check the coolant after I drove it and it's full. Thank's for any input!

if you are reading 190 or so on the gauges you are good to go. the less heat could be your heater core clogged up with debris from the outside air intake. these trucks have a poor filtering system and dust and debris can collect on the heater core and evaporator and literally clog them up. Those white fuzzy things from dandilions are the worst.

you're looking at about a 2 hour job to get to it though. have to drop the dash and steering column.

Thank's for the reply, I think I can get by until spring before I dive into that. It doesn't sound fun at all. Thank's again!
