What did I do wrong? My radiator sprang a leak so I got a new one, figured while it was off I'd do a new water pump and thermostat as was still running the originals. Bought from Cumin's NW anyway to make a short story long every thing was fine till I started to leave work last night the thermostat housing started leaking so I hurried home 18 miles to fix it it had quit, didn't leak this morn going in but leaked again when I left work but had quit by the time I got home. I know I put the rubber in the right way but there has to be something I missed. I torqued it to specs and tried to tighten more tonight but was tight.

Also my temp guage is going up and down It has alway stayed in the lower third on the guage for years now it goes up a little higher than usual the down lower than usual up and down every 10 minutes or so. I ready to put old one back in. Or maybe thats what it should be doing. Thanks for listening. John

I'm not sure about the rest but I believe your temp gage is acting like that because your thermostat is working properly now. Maybe the old one was stuck open (failsafe mode).
