I am getting confusing information on the location of the thermostat on my '99. The factory manual shows it under the alternator and sandwiched next to the engine lift bracket on the side of the block. Now... I just saw a different set of instructions showing it on top of the head next to the valve cover. This location is easy to get to and makes more sense to me.

Where the hell is this thing? Thanks for any help. ;)

it's next to the valve cover on top, your probably going to have to drain some water, and have a little antifreeze mixed with distilled water on hand incase you run a little short when your going back together, Ray

Just follow the hose from the top of the radiator to the block. The hose turns into a casting, and the t-stat is under this casting next to the valve cover. It's accessible from the top of the engine.

You will have to drain some coolant, as that radiator line holds quite a bit.

Thanks guys!!! I don't understand why the factory service manual and as well as the info my local 4x4 shop linked into shows it on the side of the block below the alternator.

Gotta love DC!
