I have used the search function to see if the Cummins part # 3954194 thermostat was a 180 or 190 degree. Could not come up with a good answer. Can anyone enlighten me? Will this thermostat fit my 99 CTD? For some reason, the Cummins dealer gave me Cummins part # 3802968, which doesn't even come close to fitting. Wanted to get ya'll input, so tomorrow I can go to Cummins dealer and set them straight. Thanks guys, ya'll are always a big help.

Have been wanting to talk about this for awhile... ... ... . I really like the 180 is the warm months but I think I like the 190 in the cold months. The thing is so easy to change that I have just stored it under my rear seat(the truck's). Also, I had a thermo BREAK on me in the middle of no where and caused me problems. Not altogether sure it is not prudent to carry a spare given the problems some of us have faced with defective themos... ... ... ... ... .

I have been running a 180* all summer and it worked great to keep the temp down when it was 95 to 100*. I just changed back to the 190* this weekend and it is a 10 min. or less job. It has a reusable o-ring on it.

Rockcrawler, the thermo has it's own gasket. So you can switch back and forth and no gasket problems... ... ... .
