I'm getting good at replacing the thermostat in the truck:mad: . . Last year when I did all the coolant hoses and the stat. . I had to replace it the 3rd time before I got one that didn't cycle. Last weekend on the way home with our new 5er the stat stuck wide open. So on Tuesday morning I called Cummins West in Fresno and ordered a new one with 2 new seals. When I pulled the old stat out the numbers were different than what I had in the truck. I needed to put it in anyway to get the truck back on the road. This one would not allow the temp to get much off of cold. . so back on the phone with Cummins West.

Another stat was on its way just in time to install on Saturday. . This time it worked like it is suppose to. Although it does cycle a couple of times before it settles down and stays put where its suppose to.

I think next time I need do the coolant hoses I may leave this stat in or just order 2 at the same time... What a pain to have to change it out because of a weak stat spring or one that can't be still..... But Cummins West has been very helpful. .

The T stat in mine would cycle like mad, then one day the truck just stopped warming up... . after 45 minute trip to work you could lay your hand just about anywhere on that motor without feeling much heat (exhaust excluded). Took it out to find that piece of rubber around it had become loose and was wedging it open. Called Geno's, got the new one and all is well... . cycles a tad.

How's that cowboy and his "smokepole" doing??

This new stat cycles twice and then locks in and stays put. Thats the way it should do. I was told by Dodge that it is suppose to cycle but Cummins told me it should not!... ...
