I'm getting good at replacing the thermostat in the truck
. . Last year when I did all the coolant hoses and the stat. . I had to replace it the 3rd time before I got one that didn't cycle. Last weekend on the way home with our new 5er the stat stuck wide open. So on Tuesday morning I called Cummins West in Fresno and ordered a new one with 2 new seals. When I pulled the old stat out the numbers were different than what I had in the truck. I needed to put it in anyway to get the truck back on the road. This one would not allow the temp to get much off of cold. . so back on the phone with Cummins West.
Another stat was on its way just in time to install on Saturday. . This time it worked like it is suppose to. Although it does cycle a couple of times before it settles down and stays put where its suppose to.
I think next time I need do the coolant hoses I may leave this stat in or just order 2 at the same time... What a pain to have to change it out because of a weak stat spring or one that can't be still..... But Cummins West has been very helpful. .
