I heard here on the TDR that the thermostat that fits the 360 gasser would fit the TCD. So I went and got one and drained my coolant and guess what? It doesn't even come close. It falls inside were the stock one goes. Has anyone gotten a higher temp thermostat for the diesel engine? And if you have, where did you get it and what was the temp? Thanks

WD

I would guess that another way of increasing engine temp is partially blocking the radiator to airflow or installing a Horton Fan clutch.

Is it running too cold or what are you hoping to gain by the hotter thermostat? In Houston, we worry about running hot..... :{

Warren probably wants his heater to work. Have you tried running without your fan? I'll bet in Alaska you can get by without it all year round.

I bet you're correct Illfem. Espar makes that diesel fueled heater system. With my blood all thinned out due to the heat and humidity, I'd have to give hard consideration for the Espar heater if I was Nanook of the north.

:)

Match the diamater at your parts store,I don't remember the number but it came from autozone ,I used a 195 degree robertshaw. Has worked fine for almost a year and the heater does work better.

Cummins part #3934373

Dodge part #05014568AA

these are the upgrade stats that arnt supposed to fluctuate so much.

I do block the radiator and also have a Horton fan on the rig. But when the tempature dips to around -35 to -50 plus that doesn't help enough. If the water is warmer when it starts out, it is warmer when it hits the heater core thus more heat. When I come off the hill I live on top of to the flats, most of the time there is a 10 to 15 degree drop. When I hit the flats my windows will fog up, and my feet get cold if I'm not wearing my bunny boots.

Redram, I want to get the heater that Webesto puts out. I would heat the water to operating temp before I even started the engine. At these cold temps an block heater and an oil pad on the oil pan just isn't enough to keep it warm. It's enough to start it easily and get oil flow but it still takes a long time to warm up.

Thanks deezul1 I'll try to see if they work out.
