They can't see me, I have this great cloak of invisibility that comes out of my 4" Jardine exhaust pipe in great, dense clouds so thick, even infrared vision can't penatrate it :D:D:D

Thank you Diesel Dynamics and Edge Products!!!

Wish I could find the email address to that DC moron!

What they fail to realize, it that we are a tight group here that for the most part adhear to the "I'm my own warrenty station," mentality. If anything, our attention to mods is preventing many failures, such as VP44 due to low fuel pressure.

By far, the majority of their warrenty claims are due to poor quality control on parts from their vendors other than Cummins, and various DC cost cutting measures.

Here's a thought DC, why don't you over engineer the rest of the driveline components so that we can install upgrades to the engine? Think about that as a sales point, especially the best kind, word of mouth! Of course, that would more than likely miss the mark, just as the new 'Quad-Cab' has. I went to the local 'Meet the Mayor' event here in Scottsdale last weekend. What a let down. Unless the 25-3500's are bigger, my next truck will be a Ford SD with 4 real American sized doors. I spoke with two other guys at the event that were as dissapointed as I was. To add insult to injury, no one at the event knew jack-sh*t about the truck. Pathetic. There is only so much an engine can do to sell a truck, and what is the next Cummins B going to be like? More choked with EPA crap?!

Sorry for the rant all... but DC is as stupid as GM sometimes.

OILBRNR

I just saw a 2002 1500 crew cab Dodge this past weekend. Took a real good look at it. It looks more like a Ford than a Dodge.

I think it is one of the ugliest trucks I've seen Other than the Chevy Avalanche, Pontiac Aztec. and others like them.

I was completely unimpressed with the truck. Look under the hood, where in the world are they going to fit the diesel???

JMHO.

Oh yeah, DC $UCK$, I'm taking my truck in Thur. for a warranty claim on my coffee cup holder (damn thing broke on me) I'm standing next to my truck the whole time, If they even try to open my hood I will be pi$$ed. Wish me luck.

Was your cup holder "performance enhanced"?

See, waht happened to Batmans cup holder was he bet me a dollar that I could stand on it and it wouldn't break:eek:  Figured with the dually it would have the heavy duty cup holder.....

Acutally, the dyno run caused it to break (I'm sure that's waht a DC rep would say.

I have seen this letter before, if read carefully it still doesn't go againts the magnusson moss act, but I can see how a gun ho service manager can read more into it than it says.

This letter can go either way depending on comprehension skills.

The way I read it, the parts you install must cause the failure for warrantee denial.

The way a sevice manager reads it, If you install non mopar mud flaps your whole warrantee is null and Void.

Ted

I will find that out on Thursday. I have non-OEM: mud-flaps, sun visor, nerf bars, and oh-yeah a 8x6 American Flag on my antenna? I wonder if my warranty will be voided on my cup holder????

VeeTenJeff

I don't think it was you, possibly the two cups of large coffee I put in it everyday. Maybe they have a replacement billet cup holder:D

Batman,

Agree with your ugly truck list. Another one to add - Hyundai Santa Fe. Everytime I pass one I think the rear doors have been hit but after seeing too many with the same dent and no paint damage I realize that it is how the metal is bent.

Yeah, right!!!

This is my favorite part of the bulletin:

Dodge Ram Pickup trucks equipped with the Cummins diesel engine are particularly susceptible to performance enhancing kits.

They make it sound like a disease. Everybody knows BOMBitus is an airborne virus :D

Dodge and Harley-Davidson. Great Products in spite of the people that build them. At least H-D offers performance products from the factory, my only question is, why not put them there to start with. I get it, make them pay extra  . Now back to Dodge, if they wanted it tamper proof it can be made that way. Let the customer do the performance modifications that way if it blows up Dodge doesn't pay for it. Also think how much "free" R/D Chrysler is getting out of this, us doing the work for them. Wow, it's great to be part of the team :D.

they may be watching us but they are not listening to us

if they were, we would all be driving REAL CREW CABS right now, and not have to keep on ear to our lift pumps to make sure we know when they quit running.

to you Mr. Murrenus take this to your hirearchy and fill them in. the needless claims are not due to the performance modifications. they are due to mismanagement and poor product research and development. what you should be concerned with is the SATISFACTION of you customers. and whether or not they will come back for return vistits (service) and buy more of your products in the future.

well I can tell you this. I wont, after waiting two weeks for a clutch, that went out at 12XXX miles and then two weeks later being down again for a 7MM socket inside my transmission. you can rest easy. my truck will never see the light of a DC service bay again. if I cant keep it running, then Ford can try, before placing it on their used truck lot.

PSSST they have a huge CREW CAB.

OILBRNR sez it BEST!

"There is only so much an engine can do to sell a truck, and what is the next Cummins B going to be like? More choked with EPA crap?!"

RIGHT ON THE MONEY on BOTH counts!

These trucks can't be expected to be a "one man show", with the Cummins making up for a trash bunch of transmissions (both manual and auto!) that can't live unless the engine is detuned to the point that MOST off-the-showroom-floor Dodges get long looks at disappearing Ford PS taillights - and yet we ALL KNOW the power is there in the Cummins just WAITING to be turned loose, and does Dodge spend their money on better parts? OH HEII no, just hire spies to locate those owners who dare tamper to put IN what Dodge left OUT! Not to mention a LONG list of cab and seating options Ford offers, but Dodge hasn't a CLUE about!

As it stands, odds are pretty good that MY next truck will be a Ford Super Duty Power Stroke = they may be somewhat less durable engines than the Cummins, but the TOTAL package is far better balanced overall, and the various choices of product packaging offered to buyers is something Dodge probably will NEVER get a clue on.

Enjoy your limited current truck popularity DC... At your current rate of attentiveness and sensitivity, it's destined to be rather short lived...

Ditto what Gary-KJ6Q said^^^

For me personally if a FULL SIZED Crew Cab with a durable transmission is not in the works - then Bye Bye, Daimler/DeSoto, Sergeant Schultz, and the whole gang.

I just drove a friends brand new GMC crew cab dually with the 8. 1 liter gas engine (300 miles and he already has Flowmasters on it ;) ) and it flat just ate at me every time I looked at that BIG comfortable back seat. I won't skip a Crew Cab purchase for the sake of an engine option ever again.
