Yesterday I suddenly had no ability to see out the windows as there was thick, stinky smoke coming from all vents. I literally could not see out the windows! It was like a smoke bomb had been set off in the truck.

Turned out to be the blower motor. Totally fried and too hot to touch but still turning a pushing heavy, smelly smoke into the ducts.

Changed the motor ($50) but now I still have stinky air coming out of the vents.

I cleaned what I could while the motor was out and Febreezed the daylights out of it but I think the vents, heater core, a/c condenser may have smoke deposits on them. Anyone have any ideas about getting rid of the smell?

Rent a steam cleaner and hit every bit of upholstery except the overhead panel. Did this to a Jeep Cherokee I bought from a smoker. I also wiped every surface on the Jeep. Within 2-3 days the smell was gone. Might also try some of the techniques being discussed for AC smell.

Ozone generators get rid of oders chemically. some detail shops might have them for cleaning up and selling used cars.

Take a potato cut it half and put both halves in truck. (Potatoes absorb

odors. )

You mite try wiping ducts... down with white vinegar or apple cider vinegar.

Thanks for the feedback. After shooting half a bottle of odor neutralizer into the intakes (both outside and inside) I've given up and disassembled the ductwork to wipe it out. Found heavy "soot" lining all the ducts as well as the heater core and A/C condenser. Took about 3 hours to clean.

Now that the smoke smell is gone... . how do I get rid of the heavy citrus smell ??????? :-laf (It's getting less each day. )

Where's that bottle of new car smell when you need it?
