Thin 6.7L Intercooler

Are all of the 6. 7L intercoolers only about 1 inch thick? I am pretty sure I've seen other 6. 7's with a thicker core.



My 08 6. 7L Dodge seems to be only only about 1 inch thick (I didn't measure for sure)

Nope, definitely the intercooler.

not that it really helps but mine looks just a big as the one on my 04 did... .

The one in my 2004 is 2. 5" and made of copper like a radiator the new ones could be made out of aluminum which transfers heat better so they could be thinner and have the same cooling capacity just a thought

The Intercooler is 2 inches or better! Recheck that the Turbo is connected on the Exhaust side and the inlet side of the EGR System. There is no way the intercooler can pass the volume of turbo generated air through a tiny intercooler which has small diameter air tubes. Think of the shear volume of air required to support combustion. it is impossible to do with a 1 inch thick intercooler!

I'm not looking at the wrong thing. . I know what an intercooler is... I have replaced several of them on 2nd gen 12 & 24 valve trucks. .

I'll measure the thickness tomorrow, I just know it is a lot thinner than what comes stock on a 12 or 24 valve from 94-02.

The C&C cac's are not as thick as the p/ups iirc on the 6. 7s

Us 2008 6. 7L owners seem to have gotten the short end of the stick. . I had my truck alongside a 07. 5 6. 7L today and its intercooler was 2 3/8" thick, while mine is only 1 1/16" thick. I'll post a picture comparison tomorrow.

My bud has a intercooler for an 07 if you want the thicker one. That one in the 08 is crazy tiny!
