Two chicks in a CTD!

Well guys

When i bring my 01 HO 6spd QC 4x4 LB back to california and need to get a weight certificate on the truck. They charge outragious weight fees and id like to get the truck under 6000 lbs. I know this truck stock weights like 6500 lbs. To shave 500lbs, i was thinking remove the bumpers, back seats, all the little bs on the interior, tailgate, exhaust, any frame support bars. Do you think that will do it, what else could i easily remove? How hard is it to pull the bed off? How much does it weight?

I'm not sure if they use the factory weight sticker or if they actually weigh the truck. If they do an actual weigh of the vehicle I would think that with the back seat removed, jack/jack handle removed, spare tire removed and run the fuel down to fumes in the tank you should be able to lose 500lbs. The tailgate would be a bit of insurance if you really needed it.

When I brought mine in they didn't want a weight sticker, cost me $393. 00, it was over 1 year old and had over 7500 miles, this was the summer of 03' on an 01'.

Hey talked ot a very good source at AAA and she told me they will make you now go to a weight station, anyplace, like a moving place or truck stop, pay about 10 dollars get a weight reciept and bring it to DMV, if it is under 6k unladin the fees are about 3 times less and if over 6k so i dont mind taking a bunch of stuff off to get it under 6k, nobody will know in the futute :)

When you weigh it see if you can pull one wheel off the scale with out the weighmaster seeing makes a big differance! Not that I have done that that would be unfair to the GREAT state of Kommiefornia.

Does the scalehouse let you get out of the truck for weight ticket? This can drop 200 lbs or so you may not be thinking of. I had mine down to 150 under the limit and the DOT guy wouldn't let me out of the truck. RRRR!!! 45 lbs over!!!

Swartzy Nagger has the DMV in his sights. I am sure alot of it has to do with the fact he is getting pushed by his buddies in the Hummer clubs to make them within passenger weights. Plus the fact that the DMV is a pathetic cash cow that infuriates nearly every person who owns a a car.

CA weight fees are $154 per year for 5001-6000 lbs, and $204 per year for 6001-7000lbs. Public scales can do a certified weight for the DMV. Try to drop a wheel off the scale like Catoiler said. It might take you a couple trys, but you can just turn in the weight slip you want to use when you get it down low enough. $50 dosen't sound like much now, but you'll save it every year. Yes, you are out of the truck when they do the tare weight. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d03/vc9400.htm
