LOSING MORE AND MORE, GETTING WEAKER AND WEAKER, WHICH IS NOT COOL, I NEED TO PULL IT AND SEND IT OUT FOR A FLOW TEST, I JUST SPENT OVER 3 THOUSAND ON OTHER MODS AND IM GOING ON VACATION FOR THE MONTH OF MAY, IM GOING TO HAVE TO WORK MORE OVERTIME CAUSE I KINDA KILLED MY TRUCK MOD ACCOUNT, IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN GUARANTEE ME A RELIABLE CP-3 THAT WILL PUSH A DYNO PROVEN 700 H. P. ON DIESEL ONLY, IF YOU WOULD, PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE SO WE DONT START A FIGHT, UNLESS WE WANNA BRAWL THATS COOL TOO:cool:

Have you checked your rail pressure relief valve. They can fail alot easier than the pump, especially if you are running pressure boxes. If the vavle is going bad the truck will run worse and worse(will make you think pump is bad). Check your rail pressure, the vavle can be shimmed instead of replaced to save some money and get your ride running good again. Just my $. 02 worth.

How badly will this affect power??

I have felt that I've been running a little less than optimum on power for a while now... some days it feels good, other days (most of the time) it is a dog (when compared to new)...

Do any of you experience a slightly rough idle as well? My 05 has been haveing a lack of power and spooling problems for a while now. Dealer is now help(No codes). I have the 325/610 motor and my friends 555 will leave me standing at the light. Something has changed over time but can't seem to get it figured out.

I get a slight rough idle, but that is a occaisional thing... I attributed that to fuel, maybe I was wrong?

Should be able to cap the rail also. That would be a quick way to check.

My truck was slowly losing power, it was really sad how bad my dads 6. 0 Ford could outpull me. I capped my fuel pressure relief vavle and I instantly had a new truck. I outran my dad the other day pulling a bigger trailer than him, he called a said "what did you do to that thing?" I just said "nothing, why do you ask?":-laf It made that big a difference. Just my $. 02

OK, so I have researched it a bit... seems either an FCA or Rail Pressure Relief Valve can cause these symptoms...

Since I'm stock and I'm looking for the long term reliability... I want to replace the valve and not cap it. Anyone have a source for these as I might just change both out at once... I got an FCA number of 0928400535.

Does anyone have a number for the relief valve or a source I can call to buy these??

Here is a response from a member I asked for help about a year ago... he was having a low pressure issue too:

"I have been lacking low end power for a while now, I new it was lack of fuel but had no sure way to tell until I got the rail press. guage, thats when I seen my max rail press. was 18000 and that was with the quad race box on 100 hp setting. I had replaced the rail press. relief valve so I knew that was not the problem,so then I started the truck with the fca unplugged and my press. went straight to 26000 so that eliminates everything from the cp3 up on the rail leaving only the fca or ecm to be the cause. I have no other problems no codes no nothing so I highly doubt it's a ecm problem. "

Just to show another diagnosing procedure.

I am considering just replacing mine and seeing what effect, if any, it has...

I think he is running the dual feed, per his sig. Not an issue.

I just recently read some threads about a potential modified relief valve in design... was it ever completed?? That thread was over a year old.

Someone also mentioned a DIY FCA mod for more power... what is that all about??

The FCA is normally modded and is part of a CP3 mod. I don't know who else is modding the relief valve,... but I recall Relentless has a modded relief valve. Hope that helps. ;)

Here are the part numbers of some of the fuel rail/supply components.

2003-2005 Dodge 5. 9L Electronic Fuel Control Actuator ( high pressure fuel regulator) OE# 05183245AA 0928400666 $147. 13 STK

2003-2005 Dodge 5. 9L Fuel Rail Pressure Limit Valve F00R000632 $329. 02 STK

2003-2005 Dodge 5. 9L Fuel Rail PressureSensor 0281002534 $505. 35 STK

2003-2005 Dodge Cummins 5. 9L High Pressure Fuel Rail with Limit Valve and Pressure Sensor 0445226014 $295. 25 STK

Prices are from oregon fuel injection. I believe dodge may even be cheaper.

Well, I hope this works on my 04. 5...

I just got off the phone with Cummins... they DO NOT list a separate part for the FCA from the CP3... you buy the entire pump??? However, I asked about the Bosch number... no good, can't look that up. So then I searched some more and found MY old post (duhhh!) and MMeier had listed a Cummins number... 4932457, which is a good number, but again, DOES NOT LIST FOR THE 04. 5 in the Cummins database.

So I ordered one... $95, will be in next week sometime. Hopefully it looks correct.

I called to other places... Miller Diesel and Fuel Injection Service. Miller wasn't in, and Fuel Injection was less than helpful (we show it, but I don't know if I can get it... ).

So anyway, I'll probably be installing a new FCA next weekend if it is the correct one for the 04. 5. Just by chance, can anyone confirm that this will work in an 04. 5???

Steve, supposed to be the same pump and all, just be careful when you take out the itty bitty screws that hold the thing on, there are 3 of them. Lil' torx head POS's IIRC. Let us know how you make out on this.

I just got my new Cummins FCA, and it does not rattle...

The Bosch PN# is as follows:

0 928 400 666

followed by:
25504
68518

Cummins PN# is 4932457 (this is a repackaged Bosch part)...

Looks like I got an updated (read: current) part... the package date is 17 August 2006...
