Six months ago when I bought my Edge EZ box, I knew Edge was working on an even better box. The place I bought the box from said that Edge would allow people with the EZ's basically the ability to return their boxes and apply the credit towards the new "Juice" box. I called the place where I bought my box from and the he told me that Edge wasn't going to allow the 100% trade in and in fact, was having problems with their new Juice box. After waiting about a month, I contacted Edge myself about this swap out and here is what Nathan had to say:

We do have an update programm for that, basically you have to send in

your EZ and for the price of $600 they will update it to the

Juice/Attitude. To be honest you would actually be better off to sell

the EZ you have now and then just buy the Juice/Attitude from a dealer,

you would save money in the long run if you do it that way. If you have

any other questions let us know, thanks.

I wrote back:

Nathan,

So I paid $499. 00 for your EZ box and now it will be another $600. 00 to

upgrade? I would be better off going with TST. I would like to thank

you, but I'd rather post this on the TDR website so all EZ users know

what the deal is. Scot

Nathan:

I'm sorry for the confusion that this has caused, however please

consider a couple of things. First of all if you purchased the EZ for

$499. 00 you got it for $100. 00 under suggested retail, secondly now your

box is a used unit so there is no way for us to resell it as new. I

will happily do the trade so if you would like, just send in your EZ and

$600. 00. Also I'd hate to see you spend the $900. 00 for the TST and only

get a 150HP. We at Edge would love to help you out and after talking to

my supervisor we'd like to give you the "HOT" version upgrade for free

which is a $100. 00 value, that will put your Juice/Attitude at 180HP

plus you get all the adjustment and safety features that go along with

the Attitude, so in the long run you get 30 HP more than the TST. I

will even next day it out to you once we receive your EZ and billing

info. If you'd like to do this just let me know and we'll get it taken

care of and if there is anything else I can do for you please feel free

to call me.

My reply:

After getting home and being able to do some research, the TST

PowerMaxCR is $725. 00 on TST's website. I already have gauges. So you

want me to send in my box and $600. 00 for the Juice???? Heck, Diesel

Power Products sells your Juice for $899. 00 and TDR members, which I am,

get an additional discount.

So please explain how I'm better off sending in my $500. 00 box plus

$600. 00 to buy your product?

We were merely trying to offer a couple alternatives for you.

We assume that people are selling at MSRP, however if you can find

better deals then by all means take advantage of it. We appreciate your

time, have a nice day.

Needless to say, Edge has lost me as a customer.

I dunno, they gave options, a free upgrade etc. the $725 for TST is without their digital gages etc.

Show me any OEM who will offer any used product trade in at a better deal percentage-wise. Do you get more for your car trading it in or selling it yourself?

I don't see what the fuss is about, but that's me.

Sounds to me like you were either misinformed about the actual trade in value, or you assumed that they would give you full value to upgrade.
Take it as a lesson whenever you go for a deal like that, that you need to have it in writing.

Who ever heard of trading in technology equipment?

Do you trade in your computer when something else is out that is bigger and better?

How about your TV?

Sounded more then fair to me. Seems the average price of a used EZ box is around $350 or so, so sell your EZ and buy the new one from whoever gives you the "best deal", just keep that in mind also in case of service issues arise at a later date! My . 02 worth!

I agree that normally upgrading will cost $$$. I will choke this up to "the check is in the mail" I'll sell this one one go with another company. I have been an Edge user since 1999. I would have never bought the EZ in the first place if it wasn't for the reassurance that the "original cost" would be applied to the up grade that was almost finished. I'm wasn't looking for a freebie deal.

If I read that right EDGE didn't tell you about a trade in deal, the dealer you bought it from did. I think they went well and beyond what they had to, WELL beyond. You won't find more than a handful of companies these days that give two poops about you.

Not bashing or anything but I have a feeling that places are less and less likely to give decent service because they do try hard and then get slammed because some people want it all and more. It's an electronic box, I would tell edge thanks for your help and then go complain to the guy that sold it to you, he's the one that should be held responsible for telling you something different.

i got rid of my gauges and my ez then bought a juice attitude couldn't be happier also i never paid $500 for the ez i only paid $700 for the juice/ attitude combo you need to do a search in google and believe me you can find stuff cheap on the internet. also name one other manufacturer who will give you full trade value there isn't one to be found otherwise they wouldn't be in business!!!

That EZ will make a geat stack on a TST :D

There is no way to upgrade an EZ to a Juice. Diffrent harness, diffrent box, diffrent board, diffrent program. To do that they'd have to junk your EZ and sell you a new Juice. It's not like a program reflash. Sounds like you were misled by your distributor.

I also totally agree with Forrest's statement.

I don't think Edge should be held to a promise some discounter/agent made, unless it was in writing direct FROM Edge - looks like Nathan went above and beyond to satisfy!

NOW, on the OTHER hand, what buy-back promises is *TST* making anyone on THEIR stuff against later TST models? :p :D :-laf

Couldn't be happier with MY Comp! ;)

"Caveat Emptor" As I always say! Never believe anything from a reseller without getting the manufactures written policy! I am a little jaded on this subject but then again that is what I do for a living!

Forrest Nearing said:
I love it when manufacturers talk about retail prices like you just fell off the turnip truck

ON the OTHER hand, you can't realistically demand or expect the MANUFACTURER to exchange/refund $600 on a product a guy bought for *$500* from a discounter, either! ;)

Not claiming that is what was done here, but the principle stands...

Geez Scot, guess your attitude toward Mark has changed over the years... . :) Go with the TST, I'm totally ecstatic with it! Sold my EZ to another member who didn't want to go that radical. Now if I can just convice Nicki that I need twins!

I would go to the dealer you bought it from and make him due the full amount trade in towards a juice sense he is the one that told you about it

Red360,

I am having a really hard time trying to figure out why you are upset with Edge.

Like others have already mentioned the upgrade information was what the "Dealers" said, not Edge. Go back to the "Dealer" and have him honor the upgrade he quoted you.

As far as Edge, they are willing to give you a $900 Juice with Attitude, which includes boost & EGT gauges, defueling settings plus more for $600, then on top of that give you the "Hot Juice" for free! This means you are only out $200 on your EZ! I'd say that is an awful good deal Edge has offered you!

Like others have said, who else will give you $300+ off an upgrade or any electronic equipment?

Edge has taken alot of flack about the 555 Juice, which was deserved and they realize that they made a poor business decision concerning the 555 Juice. Having said that, Edge continues to set the standard for "Customer Service"! Edge is being more than fair! If I were you, which I'm not, I would jump on Edge's offer of the upgrade to the Hot Juice, if you have the modification to handle it. Oo. JMO! :D
