Ken, I'm looking at getting the new automatic also, but will wait until the early release of the new generation (rumored) 2009 that is supposed to be released sometime after the first of the year. By that time they should have the DPF figured out and hopefully the 4G will have a decent air conditioner design.

I'm doing much more in traffic driving and the 6-speed manual is a bit taxing. All reports on the 6-speed automatic seem very positive.

Klenger, one is never wrong looking at the future. Lots of people getting the new trucks. The only problems I have heard is the "particle" filter, but sure that with other past problems in trucks coming out, this will be cured.

I was 69 years old in 1996 when I hurt my left knee with a torn cartlage and severed tendon when I fell with my horse during an Elk hunt in WO. Being that I was over 50. the Dr. could not attach the tendon. . The "kudo" on this trip was that I did get my Elk.

The Auto is a must for me now as I am close to 80 years old and hunting is over the hill for me now. Do it now if you can see the future as you sound like a fairly young man yet. Best of luck on the healing proccess.

Young at 56 I guess. I'm still considering the 6. 7. If I do it, I've pretty much talked myself into getting it with 4. 10s. That's the last really tough decision to make. It seems that the case every time. Since 98% of my driving is either towing or city driving, the 4. 10s don't really have much of a penality for me, especially since the 68RE / 4. 10 combo has the same top end gearing as the NV5600 / 3. 73 that I have now.
