Thinking About a New 2008

I went to the local Dealer yesterday and spoke with the Salesman I worked with on my 2006. I drove an 08 SLT auto Quad Cab. Loved the truck, serious power and oh that new car smell. I sat down with him and started the dickering process, which I have no patience for. Being a returning customer, he came to his "best price" rather quickly, in my opinion. His current "best" is 22k trade on my 06 w/30k miles, and 35k for the 08, sticker on the truck is 44. 6k. The truck is pretty loaded; power rear window, auto, e-shift 4x4, power drivers seat, driving lights, no Laramie, but pretty loaded up SLT. A few more options than my 06 SLT. I certainly don't need a new truck, but boy do I want one. Bottom line for me is monthly payment. With the deal in front of me, I can drive an 08 for the same monthly as my 06. I am right-side-up financially with the 06, and want to stay that way if I moved to the 08. Is that possible at 35k? I am close to going for it. I may go back Monday and say we have a deal if, and only if they will throw in cab lights and a bedliner at 35k. I have reads lots on this forum about pretty happy 6. 7 auto owners, so not too concerned about getting a lemon. Seems most of the problems have been worked out. If I may ask, what have some of you all paid for this truck, 4x4, SLT, auto?

Hey Brent, I jumped from an '06 to an '08 in July. I live in Denver but am actually typing this from the Springs right now!



I traded in my '06 Mega with 30k miles ($24,000 trade) for my '08 QC shorty, auto, 4x4, Big Horn for about $37,000. Sticker was $46,500.



I love my '08! The auto with tow/haul and thumb shift and e-brake is a good combo and fun to play with! The QC is big enough. We didn't get the sunroof or DVD like the Mega had but did get clearance lights, a bedliner, snowplow package, etc.

Mine is drop in, wish it was a spray-in. Also got the tube steps and bug deflector. I wish I waited until this time to buy as the rebates and discounts are better!

personally I would wait until the new body style gets adopted into the 2500's I don't know why they are waiting an only releasing the 1500's they are a much better looking truck IMO, haven't seen one yet, but my '06 interior is junk nothing changed on the 08's its still got the same crappy plastic you can easily scratch with your finger nail, and you still get the canvas seats that should only be put on the ST work truck models. the interior on this generation of truck is the plainest least fancy of any truck out there.

I think you can get a much better deal than that. there is a dealer in KS offering a 10k dealer discount on top of the dodge incentives. i worked out a deal for a 48k 08 for just under 35k. they just wouldnt give me enough to keep me from going upside down on the 06. keep looking. Well, I did it. Traded off my 06 for an 08. Got a Dealer Demo with 3900 miles. Quad Cab, auto, 4x4, SLT Big Horn. It is quite a bit more loaded than my 06, and frankly didn't know you could find a SLT this equiped. Clear bra, bed liner, chrome bars/steps, leather wrapped wheel, adjustable pedals, Infinity sound, power slide rear glass, radio controls on steering wheel, AL wheels, fold flat storage,etc. I have only had the truck since Saturday, but love the power, transmission, e-brake. Got khaki metallic and love the color. Truck just seems a bit more refined than my 06. Hope I made the right decision.



One simple question, truck has an under-hood light. Damn if I can get it to come on, and can't find any info in the owners manual. I assumed if the hood was open the lamp would come on. I also turned on the headlights with the hood open... ... no dice. What's the trick?

I would check your bulb ? maybe bad mine comes on the min the hood is opened . Good Luck with the new toy you will love it .

Congrats Brent! I got the white over khaki, pretty much the same as you, and got the chroms bug shield. Got mine new but have 4000 miles on her now. Loving it. Even messed with the EGR a bit
