Hey guys,
I'm thinking about placing an order from Summit. They sell the Walker muffler that some have posted about. I think I'm going to go with the 3. 5" in/out?
I can get it, 4' of 3. 5" pipe, and a 5x18 stainless tip for just over $100. I figure I can get someone at a muffler shop to flare one end of the pipe to fit over my existing pipe that connects to the down pipe, then just bolt the muffler to the tail pipe. Can I flare it myself with something I've got lying around?
I THINK I can rotate the "intermediate" pipe (the one that connects to the down pipe), about 180 degrees that should help to line up the intermedite pipe and the tailpipe. Has anybody done that before? Is the alignment close enough? Also, will I need to have a hanger welded to the muffler?
This is all coming about cause I've got a $100 to blow on the truck, and this is the best route I can afford. Single income family with two kids ya know...
Thanks for any help. I have ability, but no welder or welding skills, and am trying to keep cost down, so I would prefer to figure out anything I can on my own, and stay away from the muffler shops.
