Thinking of selling '03 QC for '06 Megacab

Kids are growing and complaining about the rear seats during long trips. I have found a '06 Megacab SLT 4x4 DRW with 23K; dealer will sell for $32,000 plus ttl. I called two different dealers to run the vin# and found the truck has been in for repairs twice. The first time was for a complete transmission overhaul, the second was for a rear shock replacement. The truck supposedly had less than 900 miles when the transmission went south. Although he did not go into a whole lot of detail, the service guy did say there were major flaws with the transmission build; and yes, the truck was built in Mexico. Outside of this, it has been serviced (oil and lube) every 5K miles at the dealer and the truck is in good-to-excellent shape (just wish it had leather).



I have been quoted $14-15,000 for my truck at a couple of dealers prior to me finding this '06. Although I have 140K on the odometer, the truck still runs well and I have been very pleased with it. The only problems I've encountered is keeping the front end together (tie-rods, ball joints, trackbar, etc. ). In comparison, there are things I like and dislike between the '03 and '06, and I would be willing to compromise for the sake of the kids.



Any thoughts on the selling price or trade in allowance, or, integrity issues with the '06?

I went from a 03Qc to a 06 Mega and it was the best move i did.

The only thing I miss is the 8' bed. I have two boys 3 and 5 and no more kicking the back of my seats and the dvd keeps them quiet.

with the fold flat rear seat and a husky liner mat,I have tons of room for tools and such.

I wouldn't have another truck besides the Mega. I do miss the 8ft bed a little, but I have a trailer and the bed works fine for 99% of the stuff I do with it. The real pleasure is putting 5 people in the truck and everybody being pretty comfortable.

We have 4 kids and the mega cab fits the bill perfectly. Absolutly love it! No problems whatsoever in 2 yrs.

In addition, I find the '06 seats MUCH better for my long legs and the headlights on the '06 work at least twice as well on high beam compared to the 03-05 version. Great trucks, I have had 2 '06s, one mega and one qc lb.

Couldn't see downsizing from our Mega to a QC. Didn't see if the truck had a manual or auto. Some of the early 06's had manual transmission problems. The consensus was if the truck had a transmission problem it would be very early. I've had no problem with my G56.

I have had 2 quad cabs and now a mega cab... ... ... a world of difference for the better with the mega cab. Long trips make me envious of the back seat passangers! With the kids getting taller it is even a better choice.
