2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Third brake light!

Anybody ever had trouble removing their third brake light? And I mean trouble with a capital T! I actually hurt myself trying to get the lense or whole assembly out, I don't even know what is supposed to come out and what doesn't. I said try because I never got either out. Is there a trick to this or is this normal? Thanks for any help... ...

The entire assembly should come out after removing the two screws. Somebody may have glued it in with clear silicone or some other adhesive in order to stop a leak. If so, you may have to spend some quality time with a putty knife. HTH

It seemed more like it was stuck in the hole itself, like the assembly had these plastic tabs that hold it in but they were not letting it release???

I pulled mine yesterday and yes it was tricky. Not sure of the winning combination but sure you tried it too. I believe I may have lifted up and tilted it out... I think. But yes it was something I thought would just pull out and it didnt.

Ah brain storm... I almost couldnt get it back in becauase the connector on the inside is a large square and it was trying to lodge itself in between the bulb housings. sounds confusing but if that connector is in the wrong place it may be jammed.
