Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) this is a dumb question, but

Just had the low pressure led installed. My understanding is that it will lite up when psi is below 5. I must admit that I am mechanically challenged. But, Im pretty sure that when I put the key in the run position, that the fuel pump starts to run and supplies fuel pressure. (so the led should be off, right ?) I notice that when I put the key in the run position (not started yet) the psi led is lit. And for a fraction of a second after I start the engine, it lites (then goes off) Is that how it is supposed to work ?

One never has this. That sounds right if it works the way I think is should. I would expect the pressure to bleed off after some time so low pressure on the led. Then it would take some micro seconds for the pump to increase the pressure to 10 psi. Or i am not understanding it correctly. This is why I like a gauge for pressure.

It's working right. My light does exactly the same thing. Remember, the pump only runs a few seconds when the key is first turned on. If you hit the starter for just a second, the pump will run for 25 seconds and you should see the light go out since the LP has time to build pressure.



FYI, I didn't use the little LED supplied with the kit. Instead, I picked up a "mini" shift light by Autometer and mounted where the windshield piller meets the dash. There's no missing its bright yellow glow even in daylight.
