Thanks, TDR Staff

Neat old diesel dodge on eBay

Where is the 5.9 headed for??

I would hate to have a vehicle 15 years down the road with a motor that was only made for two years !!!!!!

At least some members over there understand that FORD DOES NOT OWN CUMMINS.

DC: Are you listening?!

DC will renew their vows with Cummins once the end of the present contract comes around... they'd be shooting themself in the foot if they didn't.

i would bet ford doesn't go with cummins if i were them i'd try to keep myself differant for the brand follwing that happens with cars/trucks hens elooking prolly like cat or others right makes sence to me

Cummings is supposed to have a 'g' on the end? Boy do I feel dumb calling it "Cummins" all these years :D :D

So, Navistarg makes the Powerstrokeg, right?? :D :--)

I may be wrong but I heard from a dodge dealership owner that dodge is making a deal with catapiller! I also heard from a ford dealership owner that they think the cummins will be an option on a ford... . I think that nobody knows for sure yet!!

I would seriously doubt the cat rumor, and the Cummins is already available on a Ford... F650's and up. The contract between Cummins and DCX pertains only to the light heavy duty market, consisting of 2500's and 3500's. If Ford and Cummins tried to reach an agreement for a light duty application, or whatever, it is their right to do so and DCX can do nothing about it.

"...I heard from a dodge dealership owner..."

I remember the last sales manager and dealership owner that I talked to...

I talked for about 5 minutes uninterrupted about the changes from the '04 - '04. 5 model year trucks... After I was done explaining to them about all the differences, they offered me a job.

I have NEVER been impressed by any salesperson or those that manage them. In all fairness, maybe I just haven't met the right salespeople...

More rumors about a v6 cummins in a ford. Its easy to dismiss but ford does have a need for a baby diesel. Otherwise they would not have developed the 4. 5 liter with international. Didnt work out cause emissions. Maybe cummins can beat the emissions. They were working on one with the energy dept a while back. Maybe its ready for production. I bet cummins gives dodge the first shot and they blow it.

Here's an article in Autoweek about it. According to the article:

"... One source with knowledge of Ford's diesel plans says the V6 also is slated for the Lincoln Navigator SUV. The engine will be built by Cummins Inc. , the source says... . "

As far as emissions are concerned:

"... To ensure reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) below EPA limits, Cummins is using a four-way catalyst scheme including a close-coupled oxidation catalyst and in-cylinder post-injection schemes to ensure catalyst regeneration and desulfurization. The latest scheme targets a diesel particulate filter (DPF) of no more than 2x swept-volume in order to reduce aftertreatment cost.

In tests, Cummins is "well within the NOx/PM limits" required for Bin 5, Cummins engineer John Stang reported here. "Virtually all the NOx is in the cold-start part of FTP" test cycle, and Cummins achieves the EPA limits on the supplemental and US06 test cycles as well, he said. "We're 10 times better than the standard," he added.

While emissions cost optimization work will continue, Cummins is maintaining the tremendous fuel economy advantages of its ultra-clean light-duty diesels--60% better fuel economy versus the comparable gasoline engine, he said. "
