Took truck to dealer yesterday the get lift pump checked. Thanks to Briar, I knew it was bad- 6 at idle and nil at WOT. Dealer agreed and put on the newest edition without any grief. I then left the lot at 4:50PM and got 20 miles down the interstate and started smelling diesel. Checked and lift pump is steadily pumping on the ground. Turned around and hauled back to stealer. Got there before they locked the doors. Tech took it in and says the pump itself is leaking, no problem with fittings. No more pumps in stock, so I am driving a Taurus until they can locate and install one. Just my luck, and I was so excited to be getting a new pump!
Anyone ever pulled an 8N Ford behind a Ford Taurus?
Word to the wise: Check closely and often for leaks if dealer changes your lift pump. Also, don't do like me and wait til quitting time to pick up your truck.
