One of the Savannah River Pilots just bought the Mercedes Unimog a couple of weeks ago. I think he said it is 130 or 150 HP. The tires have about a 42 inch diameter. It's quite a truck. Even has night shades, NATO running lights, gun turret on top of the cab, snorkel for deep water and a host of other goodies. I'd like to have one on the farm but highway... ... . he said it only runs 52 mph top end.

Here is a high dollar 4x4... They used to have a 6x6 (3 axles) I think it was a V24 but may have been a V12. Military vehicle for the Arab countries, as they had the money for it. 120mph in the sand, and as tuff as the Humvee. The machine gun mount was standard, even on civillian sales.

I believe the Savannah guy got his used in Gainesville, FL from a dealer. I didn't have a chance to talk about price. The thing comes with it's own tool set. Most of the components such as brake master cylinders, etc are mounted externally on the frame and have easy access. The bed is a flat bed with hinged side bodies about 18 inches high. It's a very impressive truck.

I believe they start at about $90,000 bare. Then you start adding options.
