I'm loving every bit of this truck but the damn seat.
I need a seat like my jeeps, something softer, that hugs you rather than is like a flat bench to sit on.

Has as anyone swapped seats or softened these things up? I'm a broke ******* physically and financially at the moment but need options.

Find some seats out of a 4th gen truck, any model.
I put seats in my 04.5 3500 that came out of a 2012 1500.
Really love the seats!!

Even putting new foam in helps alot. Genos garage has seat foam.

I would look into the 4th gen seats though once my new foam isn't enough anymore.

Air ride. Get a low-profile air ride seat base (about $200) and mount it on the floor under your stock seat. You'll need to do some fabricating but it's worth it. For air, make a small air tank and feed it from a small, quality 12 volt air compressor. Run a line from the tank to the seat valve. The compressor and tank fit on the floor behind your seat. I finally hard-wired mine to the truck via a 20amp circuit breaker.
Later, I found a pair of leather power seats with lots of kidney support at a wrecking yard that came out of some form of Subaru. Swapped out the factory seats and I'm in heaven. Still need a lumbar support cushion.
If you haven't tried a cushion behind you lower back, that may be all you need.
Check the TDR archives; about ten years ago I wrote an article showing the install of an air ride seat in my '97. None of the above is rocket science. Good luck.

I pulled the cover and put more foam between the factory foam and the base and put it back together. Just a few bucks for the foam and it softened up and gave more cushion. But doesn't really hug.
