Just a short note to tell you about my experience with my 03 3500 Ram. I had an '02 2500 Ram laramie with 3:54 gears auto transmission and standard output engine. I pulled a 34' fiver weighing around 12k. I traded it for an '03 3500 single wheel with 4:10 gears and a six speed transmission. It of course has the high output engine. The two trucks are like night and day as far as towing my fiver. The new one pulls like a train. The same hill that I had to take in 2nd gear I can now do in 5th with the new one. If I could take a bit of a run at it I may be able to make it part way in 6th. The ride, steering and overall comfort of the '03 is superb. I would recommend these new ones to everyone. My gas mileage has not changed significantly and any loss is worth what I have gained. With the outstanding warranty I don't know why anyone even looks at anything else. IMHO. Thanks for taking the time to read this post... .

Our trucks are born to tow. I have been very happy with the 4:10 gears because the main reason I bought the truck was to move my fiver around. You will enjoy your '03 more every time you drive it. Good luck:) .

If you like the stock performance, try putting a chip in one. Runs like a scalded dog! Pulls like a beast. Was pulling my 14K fifth wheel up a 4% grade the other day at 70 MPH. Even passing many autos up the hill. :D :D

The Dodge has it all over the other brands too. My drivers have been singing the praises of these new trucks ever since they rolled into the yard. Both of mine are HO, 3. 73 autos. They DO pull like a train, its awesome:D

Good post, I'm wondering what it's like to pull a heavier load. I only pull about 4500 lbs and wonder if you can feel a difference between 5k or 7k or even 10k.

With 4500 I can pull the Grape Vine (a Ca. pass) at 70! :D
