To those with the factory flip-up mirrors:

How do you like them?

I need some towing mirrors and am not pleased with the slide-on extensions that I already have.

Should I go through the trouble of buying both the power '03's ,and the '02's so that I can have the flip-up, power mirrors that will fit an '00?

Or, should I skip the hassle and get the Cipa power slide-out mirrors?

I think that both scenario's will cost about the same, in the $500 range.

I would prefer the factory ones, but have never towed with them. All I know is that the ones I have, don't stick out far enough to see around the TT. They help, but are not enough.

I have the factory power towing mirrors on my 2003 and am pleased with them. Seem to work just fine, very convenient.

About 25,000 miles of towing and I am not sure I would want them on the next truck. Seems like the spot mirrors are in the wrong place when the mirrors are up. Then when you put them down you have to get used to the new location of the spot mirror. I am going to look into deleting the spot mirror and installing a single mirror. :( :( :(

I love mine...

I wouldn't have anything else. They are awesome for towing stick out plenty far for a large 30' Fifth wheel. And even though they aren't power it's not that big a deal- I don't need to adjust them much anyway, that's what passengers are for;) Having a dually I have left them in the "up" position since I got the truck, and I disagree that the spot mirrors are in the wrong place. They are ideal IMO. Whatever you do, stay away from that clip on junk- I had to borrow a set before I got my flip ups and they are pathetic excuses for mirrors.

I love my mirrors. Blind sposts are not an issue with these at all. I must say they are OK with my car trailer, but once I step up to the 32' camping trailer, they still seam a little hard to see with.

They are still OK with the larger trailer, just not as good as Iwould like.

I have the flipouts on my 2002, but have not towed with them yet.

Before the 02 I had a 98. I tried those slip-ons, but they were worthless. I bought McKesh Mirrors and love them. I used them for 3 seasons and never put a scratch on my truck. I was thinking about selling them but I figure I should hang on to them, never know when you may need them again!

As you will probably hear, others love them as well.

Plus there under $100. 00 where the factory ones will cost much more.

37' 5er and the OEM flip out’s are adequate. Hate the fact that there not power:mad: Most likely I’ll be doing the 02,03 conversion.

Hi all,

Well after towing for 5 years full-time with the stock SS towing mirrors, that were a pain in the a** to adjust, I just bought a set of the new style flip-up mirrors.

I can't say enough about them. First off, no power or heat, no big deal. They are easy to adjust and do not vibrate.

I just have to get the doors fixed to get rid of the 4 holes left from the original towing mirrors. Oo.

BTW... if anyone is interested in purchasing the stock stainless steel tow mirrors please PM or email me and we can talk price. I have no use for them, but they are nice mirrors in good condition.

I sure like mine. I've towed with them up and down. I can see down the sides of the 5th with them down but not directly behind it. With them up I can see traffic behind the trailer. I usually tow with them down.

I still have the slip ons from my '01. 5. They were barely adequate but much better than nothing.

I like mine just fine - no power is no big deal - they are equally stable up or down, and give excellent visibility in the up position. I did manage to find a good set of slip-ons for my old '91 that worked quite well, and still have them - wish someome in the local area could use them - they're just taking up space out in my garage - maybe take them to May Madness in Las Vegas, and see if anyone can use them...

I have the power, heated tow mirrors on my '03 and I love 'em. I didn't think much of the heated feature until I used it and it is a pretty neat feature, not necessary but I'd pay a little extra to get them. The spot mirror just takes some getting used to. If you are going to be towing with them up, try putting the mirrors up for a few days before before you leave to get used to the difference. I really don't see how else they could have done it and still had the spot mirror.
