those with spray-in liners...not in the bed...spray done

I'm calling this afternoon to make an appointment to have line-x put in my bed, over the rails and some bed rails put on. I just have one though going through my head and that is having them spray the stuff on the bottom of the doors below that line near the bottom starting from the front tire to the bumper in the back and having that done in black as well. I'm just wondering if those who have done similar if you like it, or would just opt to the flaps. I figure it would be a better investment than the flaps. . . lifetime warranty that the flaps dont offer if they get torn ;)

heres a pic of my truck so you guys dont have to do any digging.

thanks!!!

I'm going to do exactly what you are talking about next week. I bought my truck used and the previous owner did NOT put mudflaps on even though he/she drove on gravel roads. I am mainly doing it as a cost-effective coverup and future prevention. I am also putting flaps on because there will be debris flying up past the area you are talking about. I like your idea because it doesn't really affect the "look" of the truck (unlike going all the way up to the bodyline).

Good luck!

I just got off the phone with the Line-x dealer, even though I wasnt origionaly going to put on step bars he's going to cut a $50 off deal since I'm getting so much done. Makes me wonder if I should change my mind and have them put on

thickness

I have yet to see a spray on liner thats any thicker than binder paper, waste of money IMO unlesss they do it 1/8 - 1/4 thick. Look at trucks they have done... .

I have seen their work. The place has contracts with the Dodge, Ford, Chevy, Toyota, and Nissan dealerships in the area :)

wish I knew this when I got my truck.

$$

Like I said I have yet to see a decent liner sprayed in even by one that do dealers ect. More material used means less profit.

I have the Line-X on my rockers from tip to tail. It is about an 1/8" thick and was applied up to the bottom body line (2nd Jen. ). I would do it again in a heartbeat.

bed liner

Want to save a few bucks try DURABAK www.appliedsurfaces.com can't send photos don't know how . But i had it in my 95 and it held up very well after 220. 000 miles. $115 a gal will cover 8ft bed two coats . Yoy can put on as many coats as you want. Goes on with abrush or roller I found the 6inch roller to be the best Wont chip or peal. Nice stuff. Ski :) :) :) :) :) :)

Spray-in liners

The spray-in liner thickness has everything to do with the applyer. I had a buddy do mine (he was in the business) and insisted on a 1/4" bed and 1/8" sides. He did it and it is "bullet-proof". When I get my new CTD in 06, it will be treated the same way. I had a slide-in liner on a '96 gasser Dodge and was never satisfied for a number of reasons including the deep ridges that made crawling in the camper shell a real pain in the knees. It may cost a bit more to get the thickness you want but a few inquiries will sort out the rip-off guys.

I just droped my truck off and I had talked with the guy that does the actual spraying. when I drove up he was pulling out a chevy 1500 that he had just got done spraying. looked VERY good and was quite thick. I looked it over and the thinnest part was still better than 1/8"

I'll have some pics up tomorrow when it is done.

Just had mine done.

I had mine done about two weeks ago and it looks great and is at least 1/8 think. They do color matching if you go to Line-X and it turned out really good. Must people don't even notice it. The black gets dirty real fast and it stands out if your truck is not black.

I think spraying the rocker panels/lower sides of the trucks will be great protection but look awful. Especially how the black line-x fades after a year or so. .

I have been thinkning about doing the rocker panels and the area that my foot has slid over just inside the door lip and has rubbed the paint off. I have Line-X in my bed and absolutely love it. No problems at all.

I have even Line-X'd the base of my Summit Climbing tree stand for deer hunting! This stuff is great!.

J-

got it done and here are some pics of the job.

I like it, looks MUCH better, and gives more protection against rocks now. At first it looks like a factory two tone paint job :D

I have the ARMA bed liner in mine. I think Rhino bought out ARMA. My rocker panels from behind the front tires all the way back to the bumper has been coated for 7 years now. Keeps the rock chips away and black doesn't fade. The brighter colours do fade tho. Red will become pink in a hot climat with lots of sun. I will have all my trucks from now on done this way. It's the only way to go.

P. S. The only way to have the liner done is by hot application. Cold application isn't nearly as good.

Did you see mine?

Don't know if you guys saw the pic of my "bug shield". LineX on the front of the truck color matched. I've got a thread going in the 3rd Gen Acc. forum. The pics are in my gallery too.

To keep that black Line-X looking good when it gets dirty and fades a bit, scrub it down with a solution of Simple Green in a bucket of water. It won't bring back the shiney look (try Armorall if you like), but it will bring back the black pretty well.

Line-X'd for 4 years and very satisfied,

-Jay
