Thought I had a handle on twins

Tapped the wire

anyone know how to get a "test pipe"

I was flipping through the latest TDR mag and noticed an ad for a prebuilt set of twins that used two s300 turbos. I was under the impression that a matched set of twins used a big-un and a little-un like a hx40 and an HT3b. I thought the s300 was close to a hx40, so how can this set of twins that use 2 turbos that are the same base model even work well?

If their logic holds, then I should be able to take a couple of 40's and do the same thing, right?

BD Power has a set out like that, it's built for lower power(450-500) and boost levels(around 50) I'm quite sure drive pressure past 50 would go through the roof.

So are they saying that two s300 spool better than one s300? I can understand the Towing twins concept, but 2 turbos just alike, that has me confused. Even Piers' tow twins are a hx35 and HT3b.

Following the logic implied by their setup,

would two hx40 spool better than one?

How about a HX35 as the small and a HX40 as the big.

400-500 hp / 50 psi boost / and fast spool. That sounds like a very useable"daily-driver" tow vehicle.

Anybody have experience with two 40s or a 35 and a 40?

This sounds like the ticket to quick spool, reduce smoke and provide a modest amount of HP.

I like the idea of not popping a head gasket and not having to O-ring either.

well these aren't your normal s300's. Airwerks (borg-warner/switzer's aftermarket division) and BD are keeping everything hush, hush. The small turbo spools like crazy, but i don't think it pushes the same air that a hx-40 or a regular s300 does. The other s300 on the twins is a differnt s300. I think it will be an excellant set of twins for a guy who tows and doesn't want to fire ring the head.
