Hi folks, the G/F is thinking about buying a 2003 Durango. I would appreciate any oppinions, info, problems to look for, trouble areas, etc. It is a 4 door, 4x4 4. 7L auto. Thanks!
My '98 is running pretty good. Haven't had to do anything major since I bought it. Just a valve cover gasket, fan clutch, brakes shocks and front wheel bearings.
Mind you, it has 174,000 miles.
I'll get some more pics of it up soon. It's a great college "car" turns sharp, sits high enough and has a frame under it. I enjoy the one we have.
The exhaust manifolds can warp (4. 7's) snapping off one or more bolt heads and then they leak. Having one ready for replacement saves downtime but I have had luck getting them machined true also.
There was a ball joint recall for a free fix on 2000 + models.
I have a '98, very similar to an '03. It's been a real good truck. I think the build quality is better than my '04 Ram. It has 70K hard New York City miles, and has needed stuff like brakes and ball joints and has had the 9. 25 axle blues. I like 318's and 360's better than the 4. 7's, but I would reccomend them. look here
