I just had to replace my lift pump, and I am interested in not letting it die on me again. I know a gauge would probably be better, but I was wondering if those warning LEDs are good, or just a waste of money.

Well... ... YMMV.

My suspicion is that the low pressure LEDs will be set to trigger when it's almost too late.

With a gauge, I can see what it's doing now, and mentally figure in calibration factors for WOT, outside temps, etc. Assuming that a lift pump doesn't fail immediately but over time, the gauge gives me much more warning. And even it it does go from live to dead instantly, the gauge still tells at the same time the LED would.

Have you figured out by now that I've got a gauge?

Step up to the plate. A guage is a relatively inexpensive item. The only thing those $40 idiot lites will tell you is that you are at 5 lbs and in trouble. If your new lift pump is yet another Carter quality pump  , all the more reason not to mess around.

I took the advice and ordered a westach gauge and a steering column mount from Genos. I went ahead and got the 0-30 psi model because I will probably upgrade pumps when this one starts to die.

Yo Hoot- Geno's has a rail pressure gauge for your truck. Price is $284. It's a DiProcol.
