I fixed a bug that we've had in the thread subscription database for years today. Some time before I took over as webmaster there was some database corruption in that database and the thread id # of the subscriptions was changed to a number that was out of range of the type of number it was (an integer). I'd been dealing with it for years by modifying any new version of the software to change the data type of that variable and that worked fine until now. With this new version my fix wouldn't work on the notification emails. The link in the email that would allow you to remove your subscription wouldn't function - it would tell you that it was an invalid thread. vBulletin's suggestion was to wipe out the subscription table and start over again - I didn't think that was a good solution. So, today I wrote a program to go through and renumber that database and fix the problems - I also deleted all subscriptions for people who were no longer subscribers. We had 490,000+ subscriptions to threads - we now have 365,382.

The thing that you guys need to know is that for any notification emails you've received before now (02/26/2007 @ 1:36 pm eastern) the link to remove your subscription will not work. If you want to unsubscribe from one of those you can either click on the link to the thread and pull down the thread tools menu to unsubscribe or you can go into your control panel and remove it there.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
