I have had three TSB's performed over the last week.

1. Fuel economy re-flash : I haven't gone through a full tank yet, but I have 430 miles and haven't hit the half way hash mark yet. Prior to the re-flash I never hit 400 miles at this point. Adding distance to distance to empty shows 695 miles. Looks good, but won't know until I re-fill

2. Launch shudder : Have had a noticable shudder in 1st and 2nd gears since new. Shudder is now completely gone. Dealer intalled a spacer on the driveline caririer bracket. Spacer part # 51357099-AA

3. Poor door speakers : The door speakers had a buzz to them since new. New speakers installed and buzz is gone. Speaker part #56040953-AB I have the Infinity 6 disk radio.

I would also like to express my satisfaction with Elk Grove Dodge in California. There was absolutly no hassle with any of the work. I could not find any of the normal smudges, scratches or damage that usually comes at no charge from the dealer experience.

Hope this info helps anyone with any of these concerns.

Greg :)

good to hear. although i only have the milage reflash to get. i need to bring my truck in for the door weatherstripping being ripped so i guess i will just take off my edge and get everything done at the same time.

Do they have a real fix for the weatherstripping? Mine ripped within the first two weeks and the dealer told me they simply replace it with the stock piece. If there is a new piece that won't just tear right away I would be very interested.

Ken has made it very easy for us. Just copy the TSB, check your engine serial number, and take it to a dealer you trust. I have heard very little negative, most are getting better mileage.

I took a copy of this TSB to the dealer and had my truck back in less than an hour.

Ken, Where did you get this info, Is it a source you can share for future TSB's ?

BRuppel-- Thanks for the gasket info.

Greg

The TSB is tsb-18-037-04. See my post above for a copy.

I got the copy of the TSB from another member. Sure don't know why DC is so secretive about it.

GFritsch: The part # for the speaker TSB comes up N. G. Are you sure it's correct? It is possible that DC already superceded it.

Did you say 430 miles on less than 1/2 tank of fuel??? Lets see 430 Divided by 17 = 25. 3 MPG. Now is that a VW diesel or a Dodge truck???

Well, the first half of the tank delivers a lot more than the last half. I have however been over the 700 mile mark between fill ups a few times. Not bad for a fullsize dually 4x4. My wife did have a VW TDI, and no this truck definately dosen't get that kind of mileage.

As far as the speaker TSB, I wouldn't doubt for a second that the part # has changed. Maybe there is someone with more recent info on this?

Wow Greg, if you are getting over 700 miles out of your 35 gal tank, you are getting over 20mpg. That's about 4-5mpg better then I get out of my 2005. .

One thing that helps me is that the majority of my driving is local 45-55mph roads, and I drive like a little old lady-well most of the time :-laf

My tank holds 37 gallons when filled all the way up to the cap, so the equation is under 20mpg. Regular driving at highway speeds tends to be around 18-19.

Lou, er I mean Gino, this is the same re-flash you had done. So when are you going to spend all the money required to figure out which power upgrade really works best? See you tomorrow

they replace it with an update weatherstripping gasket that is not as thick and doesn't rip.

I've had mine replaced twice now and its the same exact rubber piece that it replaced... And the new ones tear within a few weeks again.

I had mine replaced at 5K, by 24K they are ripped again. Doesn't seem to cause any issues except for a little noise during large sidewinds (30mph+).
