Three weeks with no TDR!!!!!

Well been on the road for three weeks now visiting all the western states. I am currently in Mt Vernon Wa visiting with my wifes family. I went to a bar B que on Sunday and as we pull up I notice a nice 01 2500 4X4, with some obvious mods. I proceed to find the proud owner and strike up a nice conversation about diesel stuff.



We begin discussing the mods that I had done on my 99, and when he would tell me of his mods, I discover that he bought the truck used with every thing already done. I go on to tell him the advantages of the CTD over the competitors and we agree on all the problems that Ford is having with the PSD. Then suddenly he begins telling me how in 07 all the Fords will have the Cummins ISB????, and how Fords owns 45% of Cummins INC .



Well needless to say that conversation was over. I really wanted to engage this Wingnut :-{}, but out of respect for my wife and her family I just grabbed a brew and played with the kids. Man what a waste I was really in the mood for some diesel talk.

I wish Cummins would run an add on national TV saying that they ARE NOT OWNED BY FORD!! :-laf I ran across 2 diehard Cummins/ Dodge fans last week who swore to me that Ford owns Cummins. . They wanted to argue with me, but I suggested they look it up on Cummins website. .

I'm always amazed by the "Ford owns Cummins" propoganda. Ford owners justify that the PSD is the better of the two engines because Ford owns Cummins, and if Cummins was the better engine, then Ford would use it.



Why is it that once they find out that Ford does not own Cummins, they don't reverse their theory and then state that since Ford does not own Cummins, then the CTD must be the better engine?



Can anyone 'splain this to me?

I think we should just go ahead and spread the Ford owns Cummins thing around. It's a great way to separate people who know what they're talking about from those who don't.



That, and ask people what their rear end ratio is. Great way to determine whether the person you're talking to is a car nut! It's amazing how many people don't know (and look at you like you asked them what the square root of a million is).

The lead mechanic at a trucking co. that I deliver fuel to every other day had that conversation awhile back. He's driving a 2004 p/s. I went home & went to cummins site & printed out the FAQ ford owns cummins & took it to him & he still wouldn't except it. Some people wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the behind.

daimler chrysler owns/operates detroit diesel

detroit diesel sells a 40 series engine

that 40 series engine is identical to a dt466 & dt530 except for color

the dt466 & dt530 are navistar engine

navistar makes the t444e and vt365

t444e=7. 3psd, vt365=6. 0psd...
