Dodge finally was able to hunt me down and mail me the recall notice for my throttle cable on my 98. I would like to have it done, but everything is working so well on the truck I’m not sure I want the dealer screwing with it. Have those of you that have had the recall repairs done had any problems? Any advise on what to watch for after the work is done? Thanks, Jeff

The 98 does not get the cable, just 2 ball studs and new sockets.

If you have an auto trans, make sure the tps is set right when you pick it up,don't want that erratic lockup goin on

I had the recall done on my 98 12v and the cable WAS part of the recall. My cable wasn't frayed but we were having some really cold weather and moisture must have gotten inside the cable sheath and the cable would freeze and not return when I let up on the pedal.

It was a real "hairy" drive to the dealer's shop! I basically set the throttle at about 2000 rpm and regulated my speed by selecting a higher or lower gear (manual trans). I told them to replace the cable even if it was not part of the recall. The service tech. checked and said that the cable was included and there was no charge for the parts or labor.

I have not had any problems with the cable or linkage since.

I believe this only effects 12v engines up to 95 - 98. Could be wrong, but I don't think the 99's and up are effected.
