I've been waiting for over 3 months for the dealer to schedule me in for the 970 throttle cable recall. I guess I waited too long, it broke this weekend. I went into the nearest dealer today (not the one I've been waiting on) and asked to buy the recall kit. The parts manager handed it over for about $20. I noticed that the kit did not have the secondary bell crank lever per the TSB, just the new cable and a bunch of ball studs and ball ends. It also did not have any instructions. I went out to the shop and asked a service writer if he could get me a set of directions. His response was that they don't have any instructions, the tech just does it!??? At this point the service manager came over and stated that they were not supposed to sell the kits, as I clutched my bag of parts tighter. He wanted me to bring my truck in and have them do the recall for liability reasons. When I told him that I didn't have a working throttle cable, he then offered to have the truck towed to the shop at their expense!!!! We compromised, I will install the new cable and drive the truck to them tomorrow to have them finish the install. When I go back I will have the TSP, and the install instructions I downloaded tonight from the Dodgeram website. I guess I can't complain. Will have to see how they finish the job.
