I recently took ownership of a 03 HO/6 Speed. I noticed that the throttle would stick as I released the feed pedal (around 950-1100 rpm). Recently, the throttle sensor was moved off of the engine and moved under the driver side battery. DC is scratching their heads as to why some throttle cables are hanging up. One theory is that the intercooler heat could warp the cable. Apparently it has the full attention of DC to the point that had I not takin ownership of the truck, DC would of block me taking the truck.

Just curious if anyone has experience the same problem.

The dealership, Nolf in Fairmount City--PA, has been great with a quick fix until DC comes up with a cure all

Hey, JohnDeereG,

First of all, I really like green paint myself. My Dad has a small collection of antique green.

I am very curious about the apparent move of the TPS to under the battery. I plan on contacting my dealer tomorrow to find out more about that. Only thing that bothers me about that is the fact that batteries inevitably seem to get some amount of acid dropping under them later in their lives. I wonder how/if that will affect the TPS. I am considering having mine moved if it becomes a TSB covered under warranty, as it will certainly help the problems with the vibrating accelerator pedal and, evidently, potential problems with heat affecting the cable.

Thanks for letting us know, and keep us posted.

I was affraid they where going to move the TPS to under the battery. I saw a test mule awhile back that had that setup. They should put it right on the pedal and get rid of the cable. I would have thought with all the problems they have had with throttle cables not only diesels but they have recalls on some cars as well for throttle cables they would have gotten rid of the cable by now. That's going to cause some fun problems down the road.

i assumed before that all newer electronic diesels had the tps/pedal combo. i know gm has had that since 95 when they went electronic, and on my 97, it has worked flawlessely. using a cable seems like a step backwards maybe?

As I spoke with the mechanic at the dealership, DC called them 1/2 hour after their shop closed to tell them to keep my truck. They want the throttle sensor box from my truck to do a comparative analysis. The mechanic suspects that there isn't enough clearance for all of the moving parts. May come out with a new lid for the sensor box??? It has been working flawlessly since serviced at the dealer.
