I had a question about the throttle lever springs. This afternoon I decided to replace a spring that has been broken for about a year and once I replaced it and drove the truck it did not have that sensitive pedal feel that I have been used to. I really like it without the feel of that spring being in there but does anyone know if that is o. k. to leave out. The spring is the one that is below the injector pump and is about 3 inches long.

Mine has two springs on the bottum of the throttle control at the back of the pump, an dmine seem to be fine. Then on the plate that my throttle cable and the C/C cable go to there is a spring that is broken. I belive the latter of the two is suppose to be one spring inside the other, but the feel of the throttle has never bother me and so I have left it that way for more than 5 years with no problem.

Maybe somebody will be along later with more insight, but for now I am going to leave mine alone.

I feel better about leaving it off. It is a lot easier to lay into the accelerator and a lot smoother and less jerky between shifts.

I like that bit of a heavy feeling on the pedal, but its all just personal prefrence. I don't see how it would hurt it leaving just one on there. I'd just make sure you have a spare one with you so if you break it and your throttle doesn't come back you can change it on the road.

I only run the single spring, i like the softer pedal. There was a service bulletin back in 96-97 about adding the two springs to keep the trucks from bucking. most guys would get in that situation off road or on the farm and there foot would move on the throttle. The two stiffer springs would help get rid of that.
