Need help again.
Just had my throttle linkage between the pump lever and the formed ,round tube the linkage screws into for adjustment. It broke at the lock nut. How does the socket fittings come off ball fitting? I can't seem to find how to release the pressure with the clip on there. I had to have the truck towed to the house. It was not a proud moment.
No truck, no work. Not a good time.
Thanks
Preston

turbo,

See this thread for more info on how to get those clips off. Mine didn't have clips. They just popped into the ball ends, like in the picture:

From Joe G:

There is more than one version of the linkage rod. Your's is probably like mine. There is an almost invisable little wire clip that holds it on the ball. If you look at the end of the ball oposite the rod you will see a little spot if it's like the one I have. This is the end of a hole that runs thru the ball parallel to the rod. The little wire clip goes thru this hole and then wraps around the ball just where the ball meets the part the rod screws into. It's hard to see. There should be a tiny piece of folded over wire sticking out about 1/16" from the grove at the base of the ball. If you pull up on this the wire clip will unwrap from around the ball and you can pull the clip out of the ball. If the little wire clip is missing it won't stay on. The other end of the throttle rod has the same clip so you can see what it looks like if it's missing.

Thanks Brother Hemi.
I have the little wire clips and took them off but I'm having a time getting the linkage off the ball. I think I need a jack-hammer. Bad part I can't get a new one till Tues. Now can't go to work. Oh well!
Thanks
Preston

When I did my linkage the little ball studs pulled out of the bracket. I ended up taking a saw to the linkage to help it off after I took the piece of the side of the pump. Thank goodness the side on the governor cooperated a bit better and the stud did not seperated. Mine were on so tight I thought they were never going to come appart.
