My throttle linkage broke and left me stranded tonight. Its broken on the petal end in the adjustment threads. I thought about slipping a nut over the two pieces and socket welding it back together but the threads look a little bent. Is this common? Whats the best ting to do? Wait and go to the Dealer or try and fix it. I drove the truck to my parents house, about three miles, in 1st and 2nd gear, had lots of mad people passing. (oh well) Any help or suggestions will be appreciated!

Since it pulls you can use a length of wire temporarily to drive with. I went from Alamagordo to Tucson when my second one broke, then to a dealer there. I've also had three break and every time I had the 5er in tow, the last time in rush hour traffic in Red Bluff, Ca. I already had the wire in place, thankfully, and drove to an RV park, then to a dealer the next morning. $37 if I remember right. The recall only covers the rod ends, not the rods so that may not help you.

Thanks guys, I welded my old rod(slid a nut over the two pieces and socket welded it) and picked up a new one yesterday. I'll reinforce the new one after I put it on and keep the old one for a spare.
