This is going to sound strange, so bear with me while I try to explain it all. When I set the cruise control and let my foot off the throttle, it returns to it's full-off, position. I understand this is because I have a different throttle set up or cruise control system than in my '99. What I don't understand is why, with the cruise on, I can just "touch" the throttle with my foot, finger, ice scraper, whatever, and engine noise inside the cab will increase dramatically. I need to come up with a possible solution before I take it back to the dealer for whatever serious problem crops up next.

Thanks in advance,

-Adam

There was a TSB for earlier models on this. Mine ('98. 5) sometimes does this.

From reading the TSB was that the cable is vibrating and causing the noise. The TSB said to reroute the cable and use more cabl clamps. (I am summarizing here). You might want to see if the TSB applies to your year.

You can probably find more info by using search.

Me too! It seems as if just the slightest touch on the pedal will quiet things down.

I just re-read the first post... ... . On mine, it *quiets* the engine noise.

Dan_gilson is right, there is a TSB, you can get the parts for very cheap (even from the stealer) and do it yourself in about 15 minutes. It makes a difference. good luck,

Mine's backwards guys. The TSB corrects the noise that happens when the cruise is set and there's no foot on the pedal. My '99 did this, and the TSB corrected it. My new truck is opposite; the noise gets louder when I touch the pedal. I'm sure it has something to do with the new throttle system, but I'm starting to think I'm the only person it's affecting. How about it you 01. 5 and newer folks? Is this happening to you too?

andi thought i was going crazy listening to this! my wife could not here the change. my dealer said it was a bad tank of fuel because his mechanic could not here it.

now i will struggle out of this straight jacket, break out of this padded cell and go to the dealer and order the kit!

thanks for the info!!!

I only notice throttle pedal noise when I lightly rest my foot on the pedal. One thing I dislike about the throttle pedal on my new truck compared to the '95 is how soft and touchy it is (often resulting in a bouncy or jerky ride). Any way to stiffen the throttle pedal on a 2002 truck?
