Got a 02 6 speed and on cool morning you have to let the engine warm up before the throttle will respond to anything over appr. 1500rpms. And when it finally allows to get above that the engine misses and blows alot of smoke out the exhaust... Lp seems to be pumping fine and it has a brand new apps sensor. When the truck goes down the road mostly in 5th and 6th gear if you hold the throttle at a certain speed or postion for a period of time then the throttle will not respond if you mash the pedal on down for more, but if you let off and mash the clutch in or down shift the throttle will respond... Any thoughts

Mine did this for a long time, I tried about everything to fix it. It finally quit completely and it was the VP-44. Probably not what you want to hear, but most of them go out like that.

Try a search on "dead pedal" - it might be the APPS, but unfortunately this is also one of the symptoms of a dying VP44. See if you have the P0216 VP44 death code.

Are you still within the engine's 7(?) year/100,000 mile warranty? If so, the dealer should change out the VP44. If not, check back here as much lower cost alternatives are available rather than purchasing the VP44 from the dealer.
