Have a 1999 3500 24 valve automatic that had a PO 121 error which is Throttle position sensor failure. This sensor has been replaced back in 2002 and has now over 200,000 miles on it. I need instructions or video links on how to replace the TPS since I already purchased it from AutoZone aftermarket. Also What tools are needed? And I was wondering if there is a difference between the TPS for automatics and standards? Thanks

There is a difference between the APPS for an auto and stick. I would recommend you return the one from Autozone and get Timbo's version available here:

There are also install and calibration instructions on the website.

Good luck. ;)

Hello
timbos version is much stouter than the stock version.
I am glad I did the switch,
also follow the grounding instructions with his.

Thanks for the advice about timbos but I needed to get the replacement done quickly since I had to drive my son back to the Navy Base so I used what was available. I already have had grounding mods done to my truck since I bought it brand new and have had it and still have it. I also had the Navone one mod done to my ECM involving the transmission, have air dog and Edge on the truck as well. I get roughly 20 miles a gallon and 15 when I am hauling. The transmission in my truck is the orginal transmission with over 287,000 miles on it and the same goes for the motor (which I need to tighten up the valves since I never have had it done). I was so glad to have found the Navone fix since the overdrive was going on and off and I found that fix on TDR. And Navone fixed the problem and the orginal transmission is still going. The ground mods I did where involving the battery cables and bigger cables to the chasis so that took care of alot of other intermittent problems my truck had at the time. This ground mod I did myself and it worked very well thank God. I know if I have a problem with the part I can take it back and order from timbo. Thanks for the replies and have a Happy New Year.
