Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Throttle position sensor

Will a new throttle positioning sensor fix the transmission hunting or shifting back forth at 50 -to 55#@$%!

I'd try an apps noise isolator/filter before i did anything big. They're cheap and take 2 min to put in. It fixed mine

There is a noise filter that I purchased for around 12. 00 works great. I have had it on for about a year now and my transmission has not hunted once since installing it. Cheapest fix there is. Believe me I have tried them all and this one was the bomb. This link provides you with a great story on the APPS problem and the link to where to obtain the part. I just did that to mine and the problem is history. Took about 30 min.

I did the APPS rewire described on suncoast converters website, mine hasnt messed up yet. I can understand the idea... clean grounds are top requirement for the TCM and ECM to talk to each other and transmission shifts and torque converter clutch lock and unlock are a function of controllers managing the ground circuits of these components... without clean grounds on everything, you have nothing that works right.

I pulled the wires going to the tps and wrapped them in aluminum backed tape then electrical ,it solved my problem . Unhook the battery when you are doing this then reset the tps. It worked great for me ,like driving a different truck. Randy (had replaced 2 of these TPS's only to find the problems returned)

I used the BD diesel fix. A wire tap from the computer to grounf. Cost $9. 2 min to install and it works

I did the BD fix after about 6 months it came back. After all the attempts and about 2 years of trial and error I tried the Noise Filter I mentioned above and after a full year I have had no trouble at all. The amazing thing is not only did my hunting stop but now when I back off the accelerator my torque converter stays locked up until I hit the brake or the rpm drops below 1000. Totaly amazing. The shift pattern is predictable also. Unless I am hard on the throttle it shifts into overdrive everytime at 56 MPH without fail. I have to say it is the best $12 I have ever spent.
