Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) IAT cleaning

I have a stock 01 CTD with 129,000 miles. I recently had a new LP and VP-44 installed at the dealer. I replace the APPS ($455. 00). I have reset it a couple times.

Okay, the problem. The truck seems to have little power in overdrive. If I accelerate just a little the truck picks up some speed. If I floor it there seems to be little acceleration, however if I let off the pedal it seems to accelerate best just above the point of no load. Does that make sense?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Brian

Yep. I understand what your saying. Do you have gauges? Truck stock? Look for a boost leak would be my first guess.

Sounds like you are getting too much fuel at WOT and can't overcome the gearing. When you back off a little, the turbo is providing enough air to burn the lesser amount of fuel.

Just a guess, but it's where I would start.

Fishin Guide: The truck is stock except for the muffler fell off and I left it that way. When I try to accellerate such as to pass, the truck doesn't really sound like it's trying hard, but it does get a louder drone when I let off a bit. I have looked for boost leaks but I will look a harder. Is there a way to test the innercooler? I do not have guages, I am just ordering the fuel guage now, and will get the boost guage next. Thanks!!

PC12Driver: That TSB is very interesting. I am going to call my local 5 star dealer and check into this. Thank you for the information.

UPDATE:

I cleaned the IAT and MAP sensors and the truck sounds different under acceleration and is running better.

I believe I have other problems so I am going to keep looking.

Thanks for the replies.
