Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Throttle return springs on '96 manual.....

Can someone please post or e-mail me a pic of the throttle return springs on a '96 manual transmission truck? They are not the same as my '95 auto.

don't know what problem you're having, but I just used some cheap double return springs from the HELP section at Autozone on my 97 manual truck

I have a buddy with a '96 manual that took his return springs off and can't remember where they go. I tried to figure it out. I'm pretty sure we have the lower one right but I can't figure the upper one out. I also seem to remember someone saying there are supposed to be three springs. I may be wrong on that, though.

my 97 didn't have any on it when I got it, and with the 4k kit, it was AWFULY touchy!!!!!



a $2 pair of springs from Autozone (PepBoys, etc. ) cured it

Do a search on the 'TSB - Bucking Truck Syndrome" as the 95 and 96 Manual five speed trucks and a retro fit with the throttle springs and throttle cable.



Does your freind have a throttle cable with exposed stranded wire coming out of the throttle cable sheath or does he have the upgraded one where the cable strands are covered in a plastic sheath which slides in the throttle cable?

The cable itself is exposed, same on mine. They have both had the throttle cable replaced under the recall. His cable has had some problems staying in the bracket. Mine has a nut on it but his doesn't.

man I wish I had taken picutres when I did mine. The pedal was REAL stiff in my 96, so I took the spring off. BAD MISTAKE. I drove it around the block, and almost didn't make it back. I tried a handful of different springs. Best I remember, there's only one spring that connects from the bottom of the throttle lever to the bracket.



P. S. Scott, I have the 1996 factory service manual. You can stop by the house one afternoon and pick it up if you want to use it.
