My throttle rod keeps comming off. It looks like a ball and socket type deal. The end that keeps comming off is the end nearest the firewall. Anyone had this happen? What part do I need? Is it a Cummins part, or do I have to go to the stealer? Can you buy just the end?

There was a recall for this but dont know whether your truck is included. Are the ends of the rod plastic or metal? If they are metal there is a small wire clip that goes into the end to secure it on the ball to keep it on. If this is missing it could cause you this problem. Also inside the socket there is a small metal clip and you might be able to bend this to keep it on. I may be wrong but if they are plastic i think they were recalled, but someone else needs to verify that.

I have an extra end that was in my kit. If it's the RH threaded end, give me your address. If it's the one with the left hand thread, you'll have to check with the dealer.

I replaced both of my ends and Bought new ones from John Deer dealer for about 6-7 bucks each. There is a Lt. and Rt. thread. I don't know which is which as far as Lt. or Rt. thread. These are the JD numbers: M116257 and M116256 cost was 3. 53 ea. I was taking the other figures out of my thinker, then I went and found the invoice. These are all metal ball sockets, no plastic. You'll have to grind the back off the old ones cuase the are riveted in the arm. You will also have to get metric nuts for these new ends to hold the in the throttle arms. Nice inexpensive repair. If you don't have a local JD dealer PM me and I could get them and send them to you. ____________________________________________ 94 Ram 2500, 2 wd. , 5 spd. , 194,000 mi. , stock

throttle rod

Go to your favorite Dodge dealer and have the recall done. Your truck is on the list, mine was. Moe

If you do the recall make sure when you pick it up to tell them you're going for a test drive. If you have an auto many times they screw up the tps adjustment and your truck won't hold in OD

My cousin's '97 and my '98 both were on the recall list. I don't trust dealers so I just bought the kits, which includes both ball and socket ends. The throttle rod fell off on the '97 at the back end. Cost was $6 and change each, P/N 1-CBKRB150.

I replaced the throttle rod awhile back and put a tie strap

loose on each end just to keep them in the socket.
