Ok, this is wierd. I know these trucks are fly by wire but sometimes my accelerator pedal feels like there is additional resistance (hard to push). If I'm driving in the subdivison (where speeds are slow), I've noticed that the transmission shift points are way different. The engine sounds like it's really reving hard before it shifts. Now if I force the pedal to the floor and release it's back to normal. This is starting to happen more frequently so I'd like to figure it out. My daughter thinks I'm trying to pop a wheelie when I do this. Any help would be appreciated. TIA JR:)

Your 03 is not fly by wire, not until the 04. 5's because I've had to replace that ogger wheel or what ever the throttle linkage is... It's just a plastic wheel that your throttle cable is connected to... Maybe it's not returning back all teh way and sticking, I don't know... I was just up in Sun City not long ago, wished I could help you more...

it is semi fly by wire. . your throttle pedal is connected to a apps sensor via cable. but could be throttle cable is sticking. do the 48re's have a kick down cable, or is that electronic in the 03's?

TV cable was still there up to 05. They have a tendency to get dirty and stick or the linkage starts to bind. Also, the TV piece in the trans will occcasionaly come apart and cause binding.

I thought I was the only one with this problem. It has done it since almost new.

On 1 occasion on a long trip it stopped and I was able to push it to the floor with no binding or sticking.

I just had the Smarty installed and the problem is more pronounced. If I just barely touch the throttle on acceleration, it does ok and shifts fine. If I accelerate a little faster it wants to rev to 3k rpm before it shifts or does the same with a load on, and still has the "sticking" point about 3/4 of the way down. If I push past this stick point it shifts.

I need to verify with the installer and see if maybe he programmed the Smarty to make the trans shift differently. Not sure if this can be done.
