Two codes are coming up

1639 the standard one

1689 <---- What is this

Anyone with a manual that can tell me what the code is would be great.

TIA

Ted

That list is incomplete.

There are 298 listings in the service manual (for 01).

That list shows only 96 codes.

Just FYI.

These are the ones the "techs" are supposed to look for when looking for modifications :

  • DTC PCode Description
  • 124 P0234 Turbo boost limit exceeded
  • 146 P0217 Decreased engine performance due to engine overheat condition
  • 361 P0254 Fuel injection pump fuel valve current too high
  • 363 P0251 Fuel Injection pump mechanical failure fuel valve feedback circuit
  • 364 P1689 No Communication between ECM and injector pump module
  • 375 P0002 ECM fuel calibration error

P1689 No Communication Between ECM and Injection Pump Module

Data link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injection pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops. (from 01 Service Manual)

Well the codes cleared on there own. Here is how it went. When I turned the truck on this morning for the third time it acted like it was floored. Right off the bat the rpms spiked and jumped but it returned to normal immediately. The truck is running normally given almost 100% humidity and heat it is throwing a lot of smoke.

So here is the question at hand- Kat & Bob who is right. Is it an oil pressure fault or the ecm and Fuel pump not communitating? I get nervous when I throw codes because the compter aspects of these engines are tough to jerry rig on the side of the road.

Thanks for the info guys

Ted
