OK, new to me 2013 I've complained about .... can't use some high pressure diesel nozzles at the lowest step on the nozzle and often even the small nozzle gives me fits... I've only driven this truck for 6K miles and I'm not tired of the issue... is the tank vent hose between the tank and filler spout easy to get to... and if I open that line and install a tee and take the vent to the top of the wheel well... with this open vent throw a code...

BTW I took either bob4x4 or Sag2 suggestion.... opened both flappers with a long screw driver and looked down there with a high beam flashlight... it all looks fine and normal... so than I looked at 2 other trucks.. they all look alike...

thoughts please... again....

Something is plugged and not letting the air out. I can use truck nozzles on the lower notches and small nozzles on the highest.

If I overfill, fuel comes out of a vent somewhere behind the fender, not out of the filler. If yours doesn't vent that way it must be plugged. I never bothered to investigate the vent, I just know it's there because it spills fuel if you keep filling after a couple of automatic shutoffs.

There is an open vent on top of the tank. There may also be a vent line back into the filler pipe like on a gas unit but without looking a don't remember for sure. They usually are not that hard to see under the truck.

so is the open vent on the top of the tank a plastic vent pushed into a rubber plug.... can I assume its not attached to the fuel pump assembly... I guess when I get home... I'm still on the road and 1000 miles from home... I'll get up there and take it apart... but there is no doubt there is something wrong...

Here's some pics.

The small line in the top pic is the vent that is hooked up on top of the tank to a barb. It has a small vent canister attached that leaks fuel if you try to top off the tank, this is the one zip tied to the DEF fill line in the Pic. The larger vent tube that I cut and put a Y in for my Transfer Flow, vents back to the filler line. I believe it is attached to the top of the fuel pump module but I haven't dropped the tank so I can't say for sure.

Had same problem with my 13 and complained to dealer when in for a recall. They replaced the filler tube to the tank and have not had a problem since.

I remember reading about some of the 13's having a bad/malfunctioning assembly. Those that complained got a new filler neck and the issue was fixed.

Any chance this would still apply out of warranty I wonder? I have a 2013, and I HATE the filler, I have to mess with it constantly and it will only take the small nozzles. Even then it shuts them off 5-6 times before you get it in the right sweet spot to fill up.

Anyone got a part number for this newer fill pipe asy? I've had the same very hard to fill fuel fill constantly cuts off issue since day one.

I've got No problem opening the 2nd flap I can see that it's open when I insert the fuel nozzle. Issue I've got is the tank not venting right or fast enough and fuel burping back cutting off the nozzle or coming out of the tank and making a mess. If I fill slow, hold the valve on the nozzle at just a trickle I can get it filled but it's a pain in the ***. I'd say 75% of the fuel stops will keep shutting off.....
Any one have the part number on that new fuel fill pipe that the post above said would be installed if a customer went back to the dealer and complained.....

I am sorry to say i have no part number. Only what i have read on this forum and others. It was a sort of common occurrence with some 13 trucks. The members said a new fill neck assembly fixed the issue for them. But those trucks had an issue from day one. It will probably still fix your issue if everything else in the tank is working. Have you checked for a bent fill hose or vent? If you have had the issue from new it is likely the fill assembly. If it is an issue that just surfaced it is likely something pinched or plugged. Hope you get it fixed.

OK so I read on one of our threads that you should push the nozzle ALL THE WAY IN, but when I do that I always have issues... especially with nozzles with the round splash shield... so I've been experimenting by pushing the nozzle all the way in... and than pulling it back about 1 1/2" and that seems to work... I'm not 100% sure on this, as I've only had the time to try it for 2 or 3 fills...

If your having problems would you try this as well and let me know... When I get home something will happen here.. one way or another

I've found if I insert it all the way then rotate it ether to the left or right as far as it will go I can get it to take a trickle faster but if you'r not careful it comes back at ya. I'm going to stop in an chat with my friendly dealer service guy now thaI've got some numbers to go with.
