Ok, this takes the cake... ... ... ... ... .....

But first a bit of background. There's this friend of mine who drives his Peterbuilt past the school's bus garage every day about 8:00 am. Cat power 3406, ok,,,,,,,,this is a big engine! There is also a second gen Dodge CTD that drives by nearly the same time. Straight piped I'd say, as it's really noticeable,,,,,just like the Cat powered Peterbuilt. In fact, they sound so much the same, I often turn to wave to my bud,,,only to be fooled by the straight piped 5. 9 :D  :p

Now, the good part. There is also a Power-Joked Ford that drives by too. He's got himself a muffler-less truck... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... All I'll say about it is that this thing sounds like an S10 that lost it's muffler :D :-laf Thumbs down award!!

No kidding!

I remember after I straight piped my truck, a couple of the ferd kids in town did the same... I guess I'm just a trend setter???

I was the first person in town to straight pipe my truck, now there's about 4 others in town.

:D

Anyways, v-8 diesel sound like CRAP IMHO, straight piped or not, but even worse straightpiped.

The only engines that sound good straightpiped are [some] v-8 gassers, and straight 6 diesels.

A power-smoke at speed sounds like a continuous bronx cheer, a never ending rasberry.

Kinda fits, eh?:D :D :D

my muffler and cat fell off the other day,,,,,,,,,, you should see the looks i get,,,,,,,,,,, hot rod diesel trucks are still just a myth in my part of virginia,,,,,,,, of course,,,,,,,, if i had never meet jason childre and jeff garman,,,,,,,,,, they would probally still be a myth to me too:rolleyes:

Now, now, now... . girls... no cat scratching in here..... if there weren't any other brands, how'd you know the value of a big "C"... ... geezzz

Pastor Bob... . turn the other cheek... . so I can smack it !!! :D:D

Funny you should mention a dog... ... my buddy lives just down the street from me and his dog has always really liked me... . well now she knows me by the "no silencer ring" whistle, and goes nuts running around the house barking every time I drive by his house. He says she only does it when the "Cummins" goes by. :D

I have actually heard some quite impressive Powerstrokes and Duramaxes at a few dynos, and there are a few lurking around my area, one is a HOT mom type, maybe early 30's, lifted black excursion, with 35's, 5" Exhaust, straight pipe, and FAST! Oh yeah, it smokes too... she is hot, and so is that rig! I always see her, but never with her man.

There is also a Duramax around here, all black as well, 4" exhaust, no badges, except the DURAMAX emblem. I have played with him, he is fast, but I think his weight held him back, as he still stayed right with me, but I was able to pull on him just a little bit. Maybe the ones y'all heard were home made wannabe exhaust jobs. . the ones with the expensive exhaust, and real BOMBS sound mean. Just thought I would enlighten y'all.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the 102+ Db roar of my 6BT cackling off the bodies of those trucks when I am showing them how a REAL, 6 Cylinder Diesel motor can kill their sissy 8.

Yeah, dogs are funny! My dog always knows when I'm comming, my girlfriend says she will start running around in the yard when I am miles down the road.

But she never gets excited about other straight pipes... just mine. It's funny how her keen sense of hearing can pick out my truck specifically.

:D

Ooops, my PC meter must be unplugged... ... ... .

On the other hand, more info on the HOT excursion and driver  ... ... .

Consider my cheeks smacked, confession is overdue:D :D :D

Hmmmmmmmm............

Another example of to each his own. My Powerstroke F350 with a 4" turbo back exhaust sounds pretty dang tough. My 85 Cummins W350 with a 3-1/2" turbo back exhaust sounded like a POS farm tractor until I put a 4" muffler on it, just plain obnoxious. And I heard a Duramax the other day that just sounded awesome, don't know what kinda system he had on it. Guess my ears just aren't as educated as some of yall's. :p
